A touching game of surviving in a lost world

Nomada Studio, the creative mind behind the critically acclaimed game GRIS, invites gamers to embark on a thrilling adventure in Neva. This game will take players on a journey through a world of rot and decay, alongside a young woman named Alba and her faithful wolf companion, Neva.

Neva showcases Nomada Studio’s signature style of handcrafted cinematics and haunting music. Moreover, it has a simplified interface, creating a smoother game experience. This game is also another visual feast, with rich and detailed graphics that the developer is best known for.

Storyline and gameplay

Neva delves into the captivating story of the unlikeliest duos—Alba and the titular wolf cub. After the dark forces claimed the life of Neva’s wolf parent, the pair traverse an ever-decaying world, where dark forces await their every step. They also face daunting tasks and overcome various challenges throughout their journey, including environmental puzzles, battles with the dark forces, and platforming sections.

As Neva matures and establishes her sense of identity, their journey together becomes a test of friendship and commitment. In terms of gameplay, players can switch control between the two characters. Alba will have a variety of moves at her disposal, including acrobatic dodges and jumps to traverse through the environment. In contrast, Neva will have unique abilities, such as the ability to dig or claw enemies.

However, the game's combat might feel underwhelming for some players, with Alba’s sword attacks lacking the impact needed against tougher enemies. The simplicity of the combat might not satisfy those looking for more engaging mechanics. Additionally, while hidden items add some exploration, the campaign appears fairly linear, which could limit replayability for players who prefer more content for multiple playthroughs.

An inspiring quest

Neva is an exciting addition to Nomada Studio's collection. Featuring a wolf cub and a young woman rather than the traditional human-based storylines, this heartwarming, visually stunning adventure game with plenty of challenging and engaging gameplay is definitely worth a try. With its emphasis on friendship, perseverance, and exploration, this game is sure to leave a lasting impression on players of all ages.
